Salary & Benefits:

  • Starting salary of $72,338
  • Top out at $94,819 after 3 years
  • Defined contribution retirement, Employee contributes 5%, Village provides 13.5% for a total of %18.5 through the MERS defined contribution plan
  • 14 paid holidays, holiday checks twice a year (above our base pay)

Preliminary requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license.
  • Associate’s degree/60 credit hours minimum required.  Any field of study will be considered.
  • Must be a certified police officer OR have a minimum valid test score of 70% on Empco’s Law Enforcement written exam (https://www.empco.net/).
    • Applicants must make their results available by selecting Beverly Hills Public Safety Department in their Empco profile. 
  • Either MCOLES certified/certifiable or MFFTC FF I & II certified (applicants currently in a fire or police academy in good standing will be considered).  Dual MCOLES and MFFTC certification is preferred.
  • Pass the pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Pass the pre-employment psychological exam.
  • Pass pre-employment background check.  No felony convictions.
  • Pass firefighter physical agility test (CPAT or OPAT will be accepted).
  • Firefighter-only certified applicants would be required to complete MCOLES pre-employment reading, writing, and physical fitness testing. (https://www.michigan.gov/mcoles)
