Position Summary: The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a full-time Corrections Officer who is highly motivated and eager to learn. As a Corrections Officer, you will be responsible for inmate processing, transports to and from court, and providing safety & security to the community.
Starting Pay: $23.12 per hour with annual increases.

Position Summary:
A Corrections Officer:
- Oversees the care and discipline of inmates, including passing of meals, medications, clothing, and hygiene items.
- Prepares, maintains, and communicates various legal, disciplinary, and other records and reports.
- Acts as a Court Bailiff as needed, serves civil process papers, and enters court records.
- Processes inmate intakes and releases, including recording fingerprints and DNA, searching for contraband, logging possessions, obtaining medical information, and communicating with appropriate agencies.
- Safely transports inmates to and from court, appointments, and other law enforcement facilities.
- Assists in criminal investigations and testifies in court when instructed.
- Provides first-aid, triage, and CPR.
- Resolves inmate conflicts and ensures peace is maintained throughout the facility.

- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age on date of application submission.

- Must submit to, and receive a negative result on, a drug test.
- Must sign a release of information form for criminal and background check as a pre- condition for employment.
- Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Must possess a valid state-issued vehicle operator’s license.
- Must have the ability to work in a tactful, authoritative and professional manner while under stress in emergency and confrontational situations.
- Must be physically and mentally fit and be able to effectively perform the duties of the job without excessive absences.
- Must possess and maintain a record of orderly, law-abiding citizenship, sobriety, integrity and loyalty as it pertains to and reflects upon their employment with the County.
- In addition to the above requirements, all County positions require the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language as necessary for the position, including the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
