All candidates taking the written examination will be invited to take an oral nterview. You will sign-up for the Oral Exam at the written exam site. Either before or after you complete the written examination, you will register to take the Oral Interview. Oral interviews will be conducted by teams of Senior Command Police Officers.
Please bring your calendar to the written examination so you can choose time and date preferences efficiently. Since you may not get your first preference of desired date/time, please have alternative possibilities.
If you are not required to take the written examination because you have taken the LECR written examination in Michigan within the last 12 months, or, if you took the written examination at your police academy while a cadet at the academy, please register for the oral interview by either:
Stop at, or send someone in your place, to the examination site during the written examination hours and sign-up (you will have a better preference of date/time slots)
or
Call Empco on the next business day after the written exam to schedule your oral interview.
An oral interview is a structured interview in which you are asked to describe yourself and are asked to answer a number of job-related questions. In addition, you will be asked to complete a short writing exercise to examine writing skills. You may be audio taped during your oral interview.
