The Monroe Police Department has 48 sworn officers and 8 civilian staff members. The heart of the Department is the uniform patrol division. Supplementing the patrol division are several specialized units:

All candidates must be 21 years of age, a citizen of the United States and have a diploma from an accredited high school or equivalence. Candidates must be MCOLES certified at the time of employment. Vision must be 20/40 or better uncorrected for each eye, 20/20 each eye with correction. Visual field and color vision must be normal. Candidates must pass medical and psychiatric examinations, drug testing and a thorough background investigation as part of a conditional offer of employment.
