Clawson is a small, close-knit community with 14,000 residents, located in the southeastern section of Oakland County. It encompasses approximately 2.4 square miles and is primarily residential. The downtown area has been revitalized, enticing new retailers to our tree-lined and brick-paved community. The Police Department is comprised of 25 employees, including a School Liaison and Bicycle Patrol Officers. Our Officers and residents take pride in our quick response time and our community involvement and relationships.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be 21 years of age, a US resident and a resident of Michigan for at least one year. They must also have a valid Michigan driver's license and no felony convictions. Must possess visual acuity of at least 20/40, correctable to 20/20 and be physically capable of performing job functions and successfully pass competitive entry level testing procedures and background investigations. The applicant must possess an AA Degree or equivalent number of hours in law enforcement or criminal justice administration (other degrees will be considered). Must be certified or certifiable by date of hire with MCOLES.

Salary Range:
The 2000-2001 contract has a starting salary of $34,068 with top pay of $50,935 after 3 years and features an excellent benefit package. The department also encourages and supports on going training for all facets of policing.
